I was recently contracted to create a new logo for the cycling website yellowjersey. The site covers both national and international cycling news across all disciplines. The brief was to create a logo to fit a 260 x 150 pixel space, incorporate the colour yellow and include a ‘Maillot Jaune’ icon (the yellow jersey worn by a Tour De France stage winner.
After sketching a page of concepts we whittled it down to three finals. The chosen one from these three includes a graphic of a cyclist crossing the finish line wearing the Maillot Jaune. Alongside the rider is the bold san seriff font ‘yellow jersey’ in uppercase for clarity and impact. The final design uses various design techniques including, sketching, scanning, Photoshop and Illustrator to create the final vector file.
