01.07.13 - Lake Wanaka’s floating tree

A bit of an icon and some may say cliche’ photograph is Wanaka’s lonely Willow tree. Submerged under water for most of it’s life the tree appears to float on the lake creating a unique photographic composition. It’s constantly morphing deciduous qualities and the unpredictable lake levels provide a different image year round. The tree is a magnet for swimmers, children, birds and of course photographers! The tree has lost a few limbs over the last few years but I for one hope it survives for many more years to come…

04.02.13 - Oska Inkster-Baynes: NZ half marathon champion

21 year old Oska Inkster-Baynes is the current New Zealand half marathon champion and is sponsored by Mizuno and The Frontrunner Queenstown. Oska will compete in Australia this year and has future plans of Olympic success. I caught up with Oska for a photo shoot over the weekend in Wanaka. The morning light and Oska’s relaxed attitude made this shoot a breeze. Cheers Oska and all the best for the future!

02.01.13 - Lake Matheson Sunset and Sunrise

This sunset of Lake Matheson was a rare and unique opportunity. In general there is a lot of rain on the West Coast and even if the rain has subsided the Mountains can be shrouded in cloud. After walking the 35min to the viewpoint and having it looking dull and cloudy I decided to pack my bags after taking only a handful of images. It was 5min after heading back that i noticed the sky beginning to turn pink in the west, after some convincing from my girlfriend I ran back to the viewpoint just in time to see the entire sky illuminate and the could disperse from the peaks! I then returned in the morning and was greeted by a stunning clear day…
